Valsesia
Is located in the heart of the Alps between Piedmont and the Aoster Valley, close to the southern boarder of Switzerland. It is one of the most impressive and original spots in the Alps. It is a beautiful green valley about 60km long, it has been inhabited since prehistoric times.
The area of Valsesia is connected to the Aoster Valley (Gressoney & Champoluc). The Sesia River which flows through the valley is ideal for rafting, Kayaking and fishing.

What is a Walser Village?
The Walser people are descendants of a Germanic population who roamed into the Alps during the middle ages. They colonised the Alpine areas at high altitude including Valleys around Monte Rosa creating the communities of Alagna, Gressoney, Rimella, Rima & Macugnaga.
The Walser people created self sufficient villages to survive the long winters, and were typically farmers and Ranchers. The Walser home is very special; the traditional houses are built with local materials (wood & stone) and are surrounded by a wooden balcony. Homes were originally inhabited by several families and their livestock, under 1 roof, the barn, house and granary.
The lifestyle is culturally active and rich in tradition, in some areas the Walser village language Titsch is still spoken.
